Fretting about things in Georgetown, TX and elsewhere...

December 2007

Oh, the weather in Texas!   This week has been fun: temps from 30 to 82.  At least we survived better than Oklahoma and Missouri .  It is funny how much we do pay attention and fret about the weather; something we have NO control over.  Think about it, how many things in our every day life do we just fret and fray when really; there is nothing we can do.

The weather and our current real estate market are very similar.  In many parts of the country the markets have really taken a downturn.  But if you remember, those markets were the same ones that were high flying with 60% to 75% annual increases each year!  Many times I had to answer questions on why our market was not doing well.  It was really frustrating explaining how our market has held a slow upward trend line the last 3-4 years.  Well guess what?  Our market has had some slight increases over last year, and to some parts of our country that would look just amazing today!

What can you do?  Kind of like the weather, not much.  Ride the market out; if you have to sell, use a professional that really knows the market.  One that understands how to get a house sold.  If you are buying, get after it.  The national news is helping you negotiate a better deal.  Today, pray for those caught in markets that are not so good.

But the real news as we approach Christmas is to remember those that are really struggling, those less fortunate, those soldiers overseas, and your friends and family.  These ARE the things and people you CAN impact and influence.  Be sensitive to those without families, sometimes Christmas can be an emotional setback.  Be there for those who need you, and with all the hustle and bustle, slow down and thank God for all the blessings that are upon you this Christmas season.  If you don’t understand what Christmas is about, attend the church of your choice; God will find a way to speak to you.  If you would like to attend a church service in Central Texas, our church will have 2 services on Christmas Eve, 4:00pm and a 6:00pm candlelight service, 1333 W. University, Georgetown, TX.  I look forward to seeing you.

Merry Christmas!!
